Best Selling Items May 2020

Today, I am sharing my best selling items from April through May. Definitely seeing a big trend in comfy clothes and home decor! You can shop any of these items by screenshotting the photo or visiting my liketoknow.it page!

Two of my best sellers are in this photo! My dress comes in 5 different colors and is perfect for wearing with or without a bump. I’m wearing an XS in the lilac but the color in real life is closer to a muted dusty pink. My platform leopard sandals are my usual 6.5. I like that the height is just enough without being to high or hard to walk in.

These hot pink bike shorts are only $12 and I reach for them constantly! I’m wearing a small and they are high waisted with plenty of stretch. Perfect for around the house out running errands!

Star’s Above pajamas have become an obsession for me over the past year. They are so soft and extremely affordable! I have this nightshirt in grey as well but it also comes in black. I’m wearing a small for extra length and it hits at my knees! This would be perfect for postpartum or a bridesmaids getting ready gift with a monogram. I bought every woman in my family one for Christmas because they can be worn year round.

My number one most sold item of all is these $5 biker shorts. They’re comfortable and the price is insane! They’re an inch or two shorter than some of my other pairs of bikers so they would be great for shorter legs. I’m wearing a small and they are not high rise but sit under the belly button.

My $13 outdoor mat is extremely popular and I have linked a few other cute options for summer like pineapples and watermelons!

My tall leaning mirror is extremely affordable at $109. I’ve had it for two years and it can be used in any room in your house. You can even mount it on the wall for more stability. Right now they have a sale going in you can get it for $87 which is the lowest I have ever seen it for!

This Free People set was more than on sale more than half off from Belk but by the time it came in it had already sold out everywhere. These were a huge best seller. I’m wearing a small and the inside is fleece and so cozy. If it comes back in stock I’ll definitely post about it! I linked some great tie dye lounge pieces from Target along with my set that are much more affordable.

Don’t forget you can always reach out if you have sizing questions on anything I post about! I am always glad to help. I have try on videos of all of my items saved on my Instagram stories on my profile. You can shop 24/7 for all these items and more by downloading the free liketoknow.it app!

2nd Trimester Bumpdate

I’m officially in my third trimester as of last week. I am currently 29 weeks as of this Saturday! (Pictured above. Dress is last year from Vici Collection but they have it again this year in a sage green. It is not maternity and I am wearing a small.) I wanted to give an update of how my second trimester went and on how baby Turner is doing so far.

(Pictured above at 16 weeks) I entered into my second trimester in January around the time we announced our pregnancy on social media. My biggest pregnancy symptoms throughout this trimester were exhaustion, headaches, and acid reflux. I tried everything known to man for the headaches. They were everyday pretty much as soon as the second trimester began. When I was still and not moving they weren’t has bad but that’s not really an option when you’re a middle school teacher. I just pushed through the best I could everyday and tried to be grateful this was the worst pregnancy symptom I had. Thankfully they started to get less frequent in March and by the end of the second trimester they were gone. I feel like I’m always tired and have acid reflux even when not pregnant so those two symptoms didn’t really bother me. Overall, I would say I had a pretty easy second trimester and I feel very blessed to be able to say that!

(Pictured above at 19 weeks) We had our anatomy scan around this time and Turner measured almost exactly to the day on all of his measurements. I had so much anxiety of the appointment that I was such a relief to get good news and see him moving around a ton on the ultrasound.

(Pictured above at 20 weeks) I didn’t do as good of a job as I had originally planned during the second trimester of documenting each week in photos. Honestly, it’s because I wasn’t showing much so I felt kind of silly taking photos. We were also traveling a ton because in February we found out we would be moving before the baby was born. If you saw my last post then you know that we sold our current house and bought another in March back in home in Texas. Then everything got worse with COVID and the entire state of Arkansas schools went to online schooling. The county we lived in had the first case in the state and gradually was seeing many more cases confirmed. We closed on our new house at the end of March and decided to go ahead and move. My husband felt like it would be better to get me close to our families and my new doctor back home that would be delivering the baby. I had been starting to get pretty bad anxiety with everything happening plus just pregnancy in general and I can honestly tell you that once we got settled in our new home it greatly reduced.

(Pictured above at 25 weeks) A major positive of being in our new house is that we’ve been able to begin on the nursery. We have a crib and bookcase put together so far and are working on the dresser. Other than some decor and accent pieces we just have quite a bit of organizing to do in his closet and we will be ready for his arrival! It has been nice having extra time to do this that we had not planned on originally having.

(Pictured at 27 weeks above) I had my first visit with my new doctor who actually was my doctor before I moved so just new to this pregnancy. I was tested for gestational diabetes and do not have it which was a huge blessing! I have gained 9 pounds so far and Turner is measuring exactly perfect to the week. I started feeling him move around 18 weeks and he started moving consistently and more often around 24 weeks. Since then he moves all day everyday and Tyler was finally able to feel him moving! I’m still feeling comfortable even entering the third trimester and feel so grateful for that.

(Pictured above at 28 weeks) Our next appointment will be at 30 weeks and the time is really starting to fly by. We are getting excited and nervous as it becomes more real each day! The only disappointing thing we have experienced so far is having to cancel our original shower date due to COVID. Thankfully, since Turner is not due until mid July we are rescheduling for this summer and hoping things will be better by then.

(Pictured above at 29 weeks) Thank you for allowing me to share our pregnancy journey with you! This has been the most exciting experience of our lives as a married couple and overall we are just so grateful for good health for both Turner and I. We are praying this continues over the next 11 weeks while we prepare to meet him! This time might not look like we had planned due to COVID but we are thanking God for his provision despite what is happening in the world. Nursery posts and things I couldn’t live without during the second trimester are coming this month so make sure to subscribe so you won’t miss them!

Life Update

Despite all the craziness and uncertainty currently in the world I have an exciting life update! If you don’t know my husband and I are from the same hometown in Texas. Two years ago the company that he works for transferred him to a different role which meant we had to relocate to Southeastern Arkansas. It was a big change from us going from a medium sized city with Target, Chick-fil-a, Starbucks etc to only Walmart. Luckily Little Rock is only 45 minutes away! Besides that we also had to leave our families and I had to quit my dream teaching job as an Elementary Fine Arts instructor. Fortunately, we had friends here who took great care of us and an amazing house we loved. Then I found a job teaching 6th grade English which I really love and have enjoyed.

About a month ago my husband was asked to take on a different role within his company which means we are moving home at the end of my school year! We sold our current house and are in the process of purchasing one back in Texas in our hometown. We are so excited to be back with our families very soon just in time for Turner’s birth! It has certainly been a very exciting and at times stressful month but we are thanking God for this unexpected blessing. In addition, I will also be staying at home with baby next school year and not teaching. Our plan is for me to go back to teaching when he is one. I will be continuing to blog and teach on VIPKid while I stay home with Turner. We started packing this past weekend and all this extra time at home has certainly given me plenty more time to tackle each room. I can’t wait to bring you along for how we style our new house very soon! Keep your eyes peeled for videos and blog posts. Have a great weekend!

My Honest Review of Tula

I’ve been using Tula’s Skincare line for acne for over 3 months now. I feel like that’s enough time to give an accurate and honest review of the products and their effect on my skin. During pregnancy I have been graced with some hormonal acne. It’s mostly on my cheeks but some on forehead and chin. No one likes having pimples but it’s even worse when they leave behind scars once their gone. When you’re pregnant a lot of ingredients are harmful to the baby. Always check with your doctor but anything less than 2% Salicylic Acid and Benzoyl Peroxide have been proven safe. Tula acne does contain both of these products.

I was pretty skeptical from the beginning. Full disclosure: Tula reached out to me a few months ago and I was sent the products free of charge. All opinions in this post are my own though. I have seen so many influencers and celebrities raving about the products that I just thought there was no way they could really be THAT great. I started using solely Tula acne in December 2019. It took about 4-6 weeks to clear my skin up but I could truly see a difference. I was shocked! I have had one more flare up since then which is to be expected since my acne is caused by pregnancy hormones. I’m close to getting this flare up under control currently.

The steps are pretty simple which is exactly was what I was looking for considering how tired I’ve been all pregnancy. First, I use the foaming acne face wash after removing my make up if I am wearing any. I follow with the gel acne toner and add the 24/7 moisturizer once it dries. I also use the rose gold under eye stick and spot corrector only as needed. I do the same routine morning and night. None of the products have dried out or irritated my skin. They don’t have a strong fragrance at all.

Final verdict: I am overly impressed and will continue to use it. It is worth the price to me and the hype. I’m loving how my skin is looking and has cleared up. If you’re interested in Tula for yourself you can use my code PIGSFLY for 15% off your purchase.

20 Week Bumpdate

Halfway there! I turned 20 weeks this past Saturday and it doesn’t even seem possible. It really has flown by. I’m finally starting to show just a bit but certainly haven’t popped yet! Although, most people are still shocked when I tell them how far along I am. I’m still fitting in my skinny jeans for now but any of my high-waisted pants are done for now. I have gained 5 total pounds during pregnancy so far but lost 2 between my last appointment and anatomy scan which means I’m down to 3 pounds but my doctor isn’t concerned. She said genetics have a huge part in how much you gain and how you carry. She also said I should starting gaining more now as the weeks progress. Obviously, for anyone currently pregnant my weight gain isn’t necessarily normal so always talk to your doctor for a safe and healthy range you should be in! I know it’s easy to compare to others but definitely don’t fall victim to that. Your body knows what you and your baby need!

The only symptoms this 2nd trimester so far have been headaches almost everyday which nothing helps, acid reflux off and on, severe sinus congestion, and those pesky pimples! I am still so tired no matter how much I sleep. Waiting on that 2nd trimester energy surge everyone raves about! I feel pretty blessed overall to have had an easy pregnancy so far though. My biggest cravings are still fountain Diet Cokes, bread, fresh fruit, and cereal as snack. Some days I can’t eat enough and other days I’m barely hungry. Honestly, very similar to my non-pregnant appetite.

We had our anatomy scan recently which is a ultrasound! We got to see Turner moving a lot. It was so cool to see how much he had grown since the 8 week ultrasound. His heartbeat was around 154 average and all his anatomical features are measuring exactly where they are supposed to be for my current week in pregnancy. We were so relieved to get good news! It certainly helped alleviate a ton of anxiety for us both. Since this scan two weeks ago I have been feeling “Flutters” which is the term people often use when you first start feeling the baby. It is very inconsistent but still so cool to feel and stops me in my tracks every time! I’m excited to feel the actual kicks in the coming weeks. Only a little over 19 weeks until we meet Baby Boy!

1st Trimester Update

Now that I’m safely into the 2nd trimester I thought I’d recap the 1st trimester and some items that really helped me! I found I was pregnant at almost 5 weeks and actually felt okay for a week or two. Then exhaustion hit me hard during Thanksgiving! It felt like every little thing took so much effort. The following week the nausea hit me. I only had true “morning sickness” a few times where I felt sick from the time I woke up. Luckily, I only dry heaved those times. Other than that my nausea started around lunch most days and lasted until I went to bed that evening. It was hard for me to eat much without feeling very full and like I might be sick during this time. I started the Unisom and B6 combination and I do think that helped some plus keeping my stomach from getting too empty. Ginger Ale helped as well when I would sip on that! Around week 10 my nausea leveled off completely although I still was not able to eat much at once. This has continued into the 2nd trimester.

My only food aversions have been basically any vegetables other than green beans, broccoli or sweet potatoes. My biggest cravings besides carbs have been ice cold pineapple, pineapple popsicles, grilled cheese and fountain Diet Coke with extra ice. These are all still going strong in the 2nd trimester.

Physical changes so far have been lots of bloating and cystic acne. Other than that no baby bump just yet at week 14. I am still able to wear my regular jeans at this point. I have heard with your first you do not show until much later.

The best parts of the 1st trimester was hearing our baby’s heartbeat for the first time, telling our family the good news and finding out the gender! I also loved sharing on social media and telling students at school. Their reactions were so cute and they wrote baby the sweetest notes!

Here are some of my favorite things I used to get through the 1st trimester comfortably:

IMG_6900

I have added some of the supplements I touched on plus the magnesium gummies and probiotics which have helped with being “regular.” I have been reading the devotional book daily and have read through the 2nd trimester in Expecting Better and loved it! I gave my husband the Dad handbook and he reads it every week because it is set up into short two page chapters by the week you are on. Preggie Pops helped with the nausea off and on. The bras have been comfortable for me to wear as my body has been changing and will continue to grow with me over the coming months. I have also been slathering my belly with the belly butter even though I know stretch marks are genetic! Hey, if it makes me feel better and more in control I will take it.

So far in the second trimester I still have acne, acid reflux and daily headaches have appeared in full force. The major plus? Much more energy! Looking forward to these next 6 months and feeling grateful for every second.

Love, Megan

We’re Pregnant!

I cannot believe I am finally writing this post. We are pregnant! Thank you to everyone who has given me advice and prayed for us over the past year. I appreciate it more than you know. Baby Griffin is due July 18, 2020 and we are overwhelmed with gratefulness. I am currently 13 weeks which means I am in my second trimester. I’ll do separate post soon about my first trimester experience. I’m sharing our story from the beginning and getting pretty personal! Our story certainly took longer than I had ever thought it would and I want to share for anyone who may be trying to conceive or may be in the future.

Our journey began in September 2018 when I went to my doctor to discuss beginning to try to conceive. We had been married over 2 years and I was 29 years old at the time and we felt ready. I started taking prenatal vitamins and after our trip to Antigua in November 2018 I quit taking birth control. I was one of the “lucky” ones who got their period right away and everything seemed normal. I began using an digital Ovulation Predictor Kit from ClearBlue to track my fertile periods. I even bought a onesie from ETSY pictured above because I just “had a feeling” we would be pregnant soon and wanted to give it to my husband when we found out. Fast forward to February 2019 and my period was late. I was so excited because I thought I was possibly pregnant. I took pregnancy tests and all were negative. I was two weeks late at this point and my doctor prescribed me Provera to start my period again. I was disappointed but it had only been 3.5 months so I took it with a grain of salt and moved on.

The months went on. Everything pretty much stayed regular each month. Every cycle I confirmed ovulation during my fertile period and like clockwork my period came right on time at the end of the cycle. There were days I felt very discouraged. Especially when it felt like everyone else was getting pregnant without even trying or not trying very long at all. Statistical research shows that half of couples under the age of 35 will conceive within 6 months of trying to get pregnant. It was around this point when I was pregnant that I started to worry. At 8 months in I made an appointment with my OB. She highlighted how healthy both my husband and I were and said sometimes it just takes longer unfortunately. We talked over everything and she felt confident I would conceive within the next three cycles. Spoiler alert: I unfortunately did not concieve in the next three cycles.

I turned 30 in August and after another cycle of trying and not getting pregnant I made an appointment with a Reproductive Endocrinologist for October since they are notoriously hard to get into. I secretly hoped I would be able to get pregnant before then and cancel the appointment. Unfortunately, another cycle came and went without being pregnant. Our last Hail Mary attempt before seeing the Reproductive Endocrinologist had me hopeful. It was month 11 of trying and my period was late! I took a test and it was negative but thought maybe it was too soon to tell. We went to Fayetteville for my sister in law’s baby shower feeling hopeful. I got my period in the middle of the shower two days before our RE appointment. I cried the whole drive home. I felt so broken and felt like I had been praying the same prayer to God for a year. I was losing hope and thinking my lifelong dream of being a mom would never come true at this point. The one thing God created my body to do it was not doing.

We went to our first RE appointment and honestly I was angry. Angry that this was our reality. Angry we were having to pay to try to conceive a child of our own. Angry for every other woman in this same situation. Angry in general. The silver lining was that I was on Cycle Day 3 of cycle which meant it was perfectly timed for me to have pertinent testing done that day. (God truly had a hand in this by making my period late) We spoke about our history of trying to conceive with the doctor and then they drew blood from me to test my Follicle Stimulating Hormone and Estradiol levels. They called two days later to say both were perfectly healthy. We were asked to come in the next week for a Hysterosalpingogram (HSG for short). They take you into the radiology room and shoot dye through your Fallopian tubes and watch on a monitor to see whether they are blocked or not. This process is pretty painful for the few minutes they are doing it. I was one of the lucky ones that only bled afterward and did not cramp. If you have to have this test done I suggest bringing your husband to drive you in case you do not feel well after. My tubes were completely clear which was great but that just meant it was one more thing that we could not “easily fix” in order to become pregnant.

We came back the week after ovulation to have more levels tested plus my husband tested as well. They tested my Progesterone levels and they were above average. My husband’s results came back far above average as well. This means our diagnosis was unexplained infertility. This means that there is something wrong with either or both of you that is not one of the main things they usually test for. I had a feeling from the beginning this would be our diagnosis. I was disappointed because this meant there was no clearcut answer to “fixing” anything in order to get pregnant. By the time we got the entire testing process finished and got results back we were coming up on a year of trying. Our next step with our RE would be an IUI (Intrauterine Insemination). Since the holidays were nearing we decided to wait until January to move forward because we felt like it would be to stressful to be doing an IUI during that time period.

I really was not too hopeful about conceiving on our own but I kept tracking my cycles and using my OPKs. My period was due November 11 and it did not come but I tried not to get excited. I had just been through this exact same thing last month. As the week went on my breasts hurt extremely bad like I cannot even describe the pain. My husband and I agreed if I did not get my period my Sunday I would take a test. Taking pregnancy tests and seeing negatives just puts me in such a bad place that during this process I only took tests two other cycles other than the one I got my positive on. I woke up Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night way before my alarm but felt so rested. If you know me then you know I am NOT a morning person and I love my sleep. Very strange for this to happen consecutive days for no reason. November 16th I woke up early around 6 am and my husband was out of town hunting. my parents were on their way in to help me put up all my Christmas decor. I just had this feeling I needed to take a test right away. I took a First Response test and it came up blazing positive right away. I was shaking and ran and jumped back in bed with my dogs to call my husband. I had always envisioned telling him in a super cute way (remember the onesie I bought a year ago?) but instead I blurted it out to him on the phone 7 am on a Saturday while he was in the deer stand.

I was in shock. I could not believe I finally had seen a positive pregnancy test after almost exactly a year of trying. We got to both tell our parents in person which was so special. We had our first ultrasound in December and got to see the baby and heartbeat plus got the due date! We did the Sneak Peak clinical blood test for gender and found out on Christmas Eve we are having a baby boy! We will be naming him Turner David Griffin. I am a huge Braves fan which is why we went with Turner after Turner Field where they used to play before the new stadium. I have had the name picked out since High School and I am very glad my husband agreed. (My dog is named Maddux after Greg Maddux the hall of fame pitcher for the Braves) David is also my husbands middle name and his grandpa’s first name. My husband Tyler and Turner will have the exact same initials which I think is so special!

Overall, we are just feeling so incredibly blessed to have been able to conceive naturally even if it took longer than a lot of other couples. My biggest advice to anyone going through this process currently is to be constant in Prayer and find someone you can vent to and get advice from that understands. I was so blessed to have an incredibly supportive husband, my mom who experienced secondary infertility, and girlfriends who have had their own infertility struggles. I would also like to recommend a book I read that I really think helped me spiritually which was: When God Says Wait by Elizabeth Laing Thompson. Click here for book I want to also say that we completely realize how blessed we are for this to only have taken a year. Many couples take years and some never are able to conceive naturally. We have so thankful every single day for this miracle we have been given and will not soon forget the struggles and tears and waiting it took for our story to get us to this point. Overall, I know God’s timing is perfect but when you are in the midst of the process it it is really hard to understand that. Please know that if you are still struggling to conceive you are on my heart and I am praying God answers with a miracle for you soon! Special thanks to every single person who has messaged me with positive encouragement, let me vent, or prayed for me. I will be forever grateful for your kindness!

Love,

Megan

Brewing Positivity

*I am compensated by Keurig® for sharing my view; all opinions remain 100% my own.*

Nothing helps get me going on the right side of bed in the morning quicker than my favorite cup of coffee and the sight of my sweet pups! I am always known as the positive, high energy personality at school (I’m a teacher.) I have even had my students comment on my demeanor before. I wanted to share some things that help me look on the positive side of things daily besides my morning coffee from !

  1. Getting enough rest and taking care of my body. This looks different for everyone but let us face it: it is pretty hard to be positive if you do not feel your best.
  2. Wearing bright colors. I love my neutrals but there is something about pastel or neon colors that helps perk you up.
  3. Taking quiet time for prayers and gratitude. I always spend my commute to school praying and thinking of the many things I am grateful to have in my life.
  4. Playing upbeat music. You know that one song that comes on and you just start to smile? Yeah, that one! I always try to set the mood with music that makes me feel good. For example: my alarm clock ringtone is my favorite song, “Here Comes The Sun” by The Beatles. How can you not feel positive listening to those lyrics.
  5. Desperate times call for desperate measures: some days you gotta fake it ’til you make it. I have gotten this question a lot over the years, “How are you always so energetic, smiling and positive?” Well, the truth is that I am not. There are days I do not feel great or in a bad mood but I have to make a decision to try to be positive or have an awful day. I really try to be positive for my students and hope it also helps my coworkers with the energy of our school.

Did you know that 4 in 5 people agree their daily cup of coffee helps keep them positive? I certainly agree! I make my coffee at home every morning to save time and money. It is just so easy to pop a pod in and have it brew while I let my dogs out. I usually take my coffee with me on my commute as a little more me time. I truly look forward to it everyday!

I love the ease and convenience of the K-Mini Plus® Single Serve Coffee Maker. It fits virtually anywhere and is perfect for preparing your cup of coffee. You fill the water reservoir, choose your favorite pod from The Original Donut Shop Coffee, add your mug and you are ready to go. Right now, I am loving the Nutty Caramel flavor.

To celebrate the power of positivity The Original Donut Shop is asking Americans to nominate a coworker who positively impacts them. Consumers can nominate a coworker through a simple entry form on www.brewpositivity.com.

25 winners will be randomly selected to win $200 and year supply of The Original Donut Shop K-Cup® pods. Nominations will be accepted through November 22, 2019.

Do not forget to enter my K-Mini Plus® Single Serve Coffee Maker and variety of The Original Donut Shop K-Cup® pods on Instagram! Just comment your favorite coffee and tag a friend and you will be entered to win. Check out Keurig on Instagram if have not already as well! Let me know how you stay positive in the comments.
